Today we have a bad tendency of eating a lot of junk food, such as sausages, sauces, fast food and other products with a great number of food additives, and the alcohol is also in the list. All of them make great harm to the liver. Fortunately, there’re products, which have power to regenerate the liver, they can improve its functions and keep its work in the proper way.

Fruits and vegetables

The first in the list are fruits and vegetables, which are high in pectin. Pectin is a natural sorbent; it removes the body toxins accumulated in the liver. A large amount of pectin is contained in seaweed, apples, quince, and pumpkin. You can enjoy it fresh or cook it (boil/ bake). The heat treatment even increases the amount of pectin!

It’s very useful for liver health to eat the beet, corn (boiled and corn oil), all kinds of cabbage, all vegetable oils (sunflower, linseed, etc.).

One more product that we should draw our attention to in the question of regenerating liver health is a tomato. Fresh tomatoes are useful for liver; they have a bile-expelling effect. But we can’t say the same about commercially available ketchups and tomato sauces, on the contrary they have a bad influence on the liver – they irritate and depress it. If you prepare the tomato sauce yourself, you will protect the liver from harmful preservatives, colorings, flavorings and other chemicals.

Green and black tea

Green and black tea protect and treat the liver, whereas coffee isn’t preferable, but you can use chicory instead (do not forget about fresh chicory – add it to salads). We’ll speak a little bit later about how to make and drink chicory.

The greens and herbs

Flavor your dishes with dill, parsley, cilantro, celery, and basil. If you have mint, then brew tea with it. Peppermint relaxes and relieves pain in the muscles. In addition, regular consumption of mint tea helps to remove the sand from the gallbladder. You can also add it to a variety of salads, which are necessary to fill with the corn or olive oil with lemon or grapefruit juice.

Dairy products

Dairy products are excellent for the liver health: low-fat yogurt, sour, acidophilus, cottage cheese, cheese.

Cereals and cereal products

It will be great if the whole-grain porridge will be on your menu: oats, millet, brown rice. Moreover, the best bread for your liver is a brown whole wheat one.
